First of all, one thing that I learned when I was reading A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle its that your main purpose in life is to be yourself and live your life. Pure and simple. I know this isn’t always easy to wrap your head around cuz it doesn’t feel like you can just be yourself and that would be enough but this is truly your primary life purpose and learning to love yourself and love your life will just make the most difference. Or, what it is you were put on this earth to do, what will feed your soul and fulfill you, here is a couple journaling prompts that might help you figure it out.
A twist on the someday/today list (borrowed from Minimalists, introduced to me by Jocelynne Flor on Instagram)
In my case, in the first column title SOMEDAY, I wrote down all the things I wished to accomplish and have in my life. For example, I wrote “have a loving family; give love to the world; inspire young souls; help people in need; stand up for what I believe in; be the change I wish to see in the world; make others smile; save a life, etc.
In the second column, TODAY, I wrote down one way I am already doing this thing or having this thing or working towards it. For instance, for inspiring young souls I wrote that I make youtube videos; for stand up for what I believe in I wrote that I make conscious choices about who I want to be, etc.
Then I decided to take this prompt even further and on the following page, I started creating mind maps around the main someday items on my list. around the main “purpose” that I wrote in the list, I wanted to list all the actions I could take to do or have what I wanted. I realized that some of these items were parts of other larger items.
Around the purpose “give love to the world”, I wrote live without judgement (which was one of the items in my someday list), help people in need (also on my someday list), celebrate differences, stand up with the marginalized, do what I love, show love, respect and compassion, raise kind children, and left space for other actions.
Around be the change I wish to see in the world, I wrote be love, be vegan, be low-impact, be kind, be non-judgemental, be spiritual, be healthy, be happy, be successful, be in love, live mindfully, live intentionally, life minimally, love myself, be gentle.
Around save a life, I wrote share my story, rescue a dog, donate my organs, donate blood, adopt a child, foster. It doesn’t mean I will get around to do all of those things or that I will be able to be all those things all of the time but it gives me a clear idea of the actionable steps I can take to be more and do more of what fulfills me.

So today I'm sharing with you what I have learned while reading Gary Chapman's The Five Love Languages book for my Year of Happy series!
The book starts by explaining how everyone has a love tank and what determine whether your love tank is full or empty is the perceived amount of love you are given, especially by your significant other. It also explains the difference between the "in-love" experience we go through at the beginning of a relationship where everything is perfect and all is good and when reality settles in, you face obstacles and the daily routine sets in and real love can begin. According to Mr. Chapman, real love is a choice, we must decide to show love to our significant other, or their love tank will become empty. And for them to perceive the love you are giving them, you must communicate in their love language which may very well be different from yours. You must both learn to speak each other's love language for your relationship to flourish.
Here are the 5 love languages introduced by the author :
#1 Words of Affirmation Verbal compliments, words of appreciation, encouragement, using kind words rather than nagging or sarcasm, forgiving...
#2 Quality Time Giving your undivided attention to the other, finding activities you are both enjoying, having quality conversations, self-revelation...
#3 Receiving Gifts Physical, visual symbols of love, thought rather than cost matters, gift of presence/self...
#4 Acts of Service Doing what the other wishes you to do, avoiding criticism and demands as those lead to resentment, request by love rather than manipulate by guilt or coerce by fear...
#5 Physical Touch Holding hands, kissing, hugging, having sex, etc...

What is Self-Care?
Self-care is to deliberately take care of your mental and physical health. How do you take care of yourself and be kind to yourself?
Self-care should not be treated as reward, but as a way of life. It's a gift we give ourselves by honouring our bodies and souls. It helps us create moments dedicated to our wellbeing and allows us to express love for ourselves.
Why you need a self-care practice?
We neglect ourselves so much because we are too busy (not making time for it) or because we think we don't deserve it.
We need to treat ourselves with love and respect because when you give your body what it needs, be it rest, nutritious foods, exercise, or just a long warm bath, your body will start working for you. It will be capable, it will feel better, which will allow you do do more with your day!
Same goes for your mind. If you don't take the time to care for what it inside your head, you'll be in bad shape. You might be extra tired, or unmotivated, stressed out or even depressed or anxious. It's really important to clear your ind and treat it with care if you want to feel good.
What is the goal of self-care?
The goal of establishing a self-care practice is to create moments dedicated to your wellbeing as often as possible. It's about making your needs come first. You want to create a daily self-care practice even if you might not need the same things each day. Do things for yourself, for your wellbeing everyday.
How to create a self-care practice?

Hey everyone! I am back today with another video for my Year of Happy series and today I want to address the topics of self-love and body image in a new Heart to Heart Talk video! Before we get started, I want to say that I am by no means considering myself to be a self-love guru or anything but I did make significant progress in my self-love journey and I am hoping to share that with you all today along with introducing you to a few people who made a big difference for me! Enjoy!
1) Accept yourself
The first step of my self-love journey was probably accepting myself the way I was. I spent most of my childhood and adolescence trying to be like everyone else, trying to change myself. So the day that I discovered that it was ok to be who I was and that shouldn't be ashamed of that and shouldn't try to hide that, I took a giant step towards self-love.
2) Forgive yourself
Through the years of trying to be like everyone else, I made a lot of bad decisions and wrong choices, so once I realized that, I was really upset with myself. But then, I realized that without making those mistakes I wouldn't be who I was today, and where I was, that these mistakes had taken me where I needed to be and I needed to stop regretting and resenting myself for them and just forgive myself and move on.
3) Believe in yourself
I grew up in a family where dreams were out of reach and there wasn't much hope for the future. So a big step towards self-love for me was recognizing the beauty of my dreams and allowing myself to believe that I could reach them!
4) Know that what matters is how your body feels
So recently I gained a bit of weight, and Tim and I had a vacation planned to Cuba for reading week. I felt really self-conscious and uncomfortable to the point where I wanted to simply cancel the vacation to avoid having to be in a bikini with the extra weight on. Then, I started to realize how ridiculous it was for me to pass on such a nice and well-deserved vacation because of the way I looked. I am not saying I'm 100% ok with my body, but I shouldn't let it ruin my vacation you know... I also underwent a major mindset shift where I started seeing my body more for what it could do than for what it looked like. By what it can do, I mean lifting weights and running, and other mechanical stuff like this but also the wonderful processes that human bodies can do like thinking (neurons communicating) and digesting (creating and utilizing energy from organic material), etc. Our bodies are wonderful machines! P.S. Check out Kelly Um, she is a wonderful human so inspiring and so beautiful!
5) Surround yourself with people who can support you
As I mentioned earlier, my family wasn't exactly supportive of my ambitions, so the day I met like-minded people who saw the world the way I did and believe in what I could accomplished, it made me feel so much better. I had finally found a support system that could help me believe in my dreams. Surrounding yourself with people who can help you realize your true worth is a big help when struggling with self-love.

Today I want to share with my take on love! Since this month's theme is love and relationships I wanted to kickstart it with a how to find your soulmate video! So in the beginning of the video, I share with you all my story, from believing in prince charming, to giving up and find hope again, and finally finding my one and only true love. I'm gonna skip all that here, so make sure you watch the video ;)
So here are a few of my tips on how to find love :
1) Learn to love yourself first
It's important to understand that it can be very difficult to find a person that truly loves you when you can't even love yourself. No need to be egocentric and forget to be modest, but being able to be alone with yourself without feeling lonely. You need to be able to be your own person, be ok by yourself and ultimately know yourself enough to know what is right for you and what isn't.
2) Stay true to your beliefs
No matter what your beliefs and values are, stick to them! Don't let people convince you or tell you otherwise. What you want is out there, and you gotta be patient and believe in it!! Don't get discourage, and don't get influenced by what you see others do! You don't have to be like them!!
3) Stop looking for love
The more you look, the less you find! In order to be able to be open for love, you need to let go! Stop trying to control it or make it happen! Let things happen on their own. Don't try to impress people or change yourself or your standards, just be yourself and should be yours will come to you!
4) Trust the universe
Along the same line, trust the universe. If something you desperately wanted to work out doesn't, it must be because something better is waiting for you out there! Everything happens for a reason! Be patient!
5) See people for what they are
Don't get your hopes up, stop trying to identify a certain ideal! Your soulmate isn't just a bunch of qualities to check off some checklist, it's a person, a wonderful person! Let people be themselves! Don't put pressure on yourself to try to impress someone! The right one will love you just they way you are and will see beauty in your flaws! Don't have so much expectations, just be open for anything, you never know what might come your way!
To me love is the strongest feeling. It's someone who makes you better by simply existing and someone who make you want to be better for them! It's someone who inspires you, challenges you. When you love someone, their happiness matter so much, it's an integrant part of your own! Love is someone who supports you through the tough times and is there to share the best times! Love truly conquers all and makes everything brighter!
Alright so that was my take on love!! Don't call me Dr. Love just yet but I hope this helped!!
